TNT Remote Recording

BBC/ Piano Concerto Two different main omni pairs were hung. One pair for the Concerto was pulled back as not to make the piano larger than the orchestra and the other for the normal orchestra spread.
Apollo’s Fire Cleveland’s Baroque Orchestra,  Apollo’s Fire, performed L Orfeo, using period instruments, in St. Paul’s Church in Cleveland, Ohio. this was a direct to 2-track recorded over three days.
Jubilant Sykes This piece called A City Called Heaven was recorded in NPR’s Studio 4A for a program called Anthem. A tube Neumann SM 69 was used on Mr. Sykes with a pair of AKG 414’s on the piano.

Love’s In Need  These selections are from a recording  for a CD “Glorious Dreams” by Washington, DC’s Eastern High School Choir. A combination of B&K omni’s and Neumann cardiod’s were used.

High Quality Wave Files

Orpheus Chamber Orchestra They were recorded at NPR’s Studio 4A using two omni mics in ORTF and two omni’s as flanks. They are performing a famous Aaron Copeland piece without a conductor.
Christopher O’Riley Two Neumann SM69’s placed about a foot from the piano, a nine foot Steinway Grand in Studio 4A.
Miro Quartet An outdoor recording using two Neumann KM 83’s in ORTF pattern. Recorded at the Virginia Arts Festival.
Debra Wendells-Cross Debra and Barbara Chapman were recorded using tube Neumann KM 63’s. Hall ambience was mic’d along with the Flute and Harp. It was released on the Albany record label.
Imani Winds An ORTF pair of  Neumann KM 83’s was used in this recording from the Attucks Theater at the Virginia Arts Festival.
Anna Sophie-Mutter Two Neumann KM 83’s were used for this Kennedy Center recording. She’s accompanied by the Lambert Orchestra They were promoting a new album of Dovark works.

Virginia Symphony Recordings

Peter and the Wolf The next three pieces by the Virginia Symphony were recorded at Chrysler Hall in Norfolk, Virginia using the Big Mo remote truck.  Neumann TLM 50’s were used as the main pair with a U-87 in omni on the flanks.
A Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra The next three pieces by the Virginia Symphony were recorded at Chrysler Hall in Norfolk, Virginia using the Big Mo remote truck.  Neumann TLM 50’s were used as the main pair with a U-87 in omni on the flanks.
Carnival of the Animals The next three pieces by the Virginia Symphony were recorded at Chrysler Hall in Norfolk, Virginia using the Big Mo remote truck.  Neumann TLM 50’s were used as the main pair with a U-87 in omni on the flanks.
Hansel & Gretel These shows were recorded with the best of each edited together. The Milwaukee Symphony performed at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts. Four Sennheiser MKH 20’s were hung in front of the orchestra with accents on the woodwinds, percussion and double basses. Five MKH 40’s were also used on the roving singers at stage level and on the chorus.
The Music of John Duffy This is a recording of The Music of John Duffy presented by the Virginia Arts Festival Wind Ensemble and Virginia Symphony Chorus. It was a direct to 2-track session with a multi-track backup. Two Neumann KM 83’s were the main pair with Sennheiser MKH 20’s on the flanks in front of the ensemble. The chorus was miked with three  MKH 40’s.
Chinese Philharmonic This is a another direct to 2-track recording from the Strathmore Hall in Bethesda, Maryland. Two omni’s in ORTF were used as the main pair and two omni’s on the flanks. Some spot mic’s  were placed as needed.

Donovan Here is an interview of singer / songwriter Donovan by NPR’s Alex Chadwick in a house in Georgetown, Washington, DC.
Perfect 10 Ranch This piece was recorded in Nebraska at the Perfect 10 Ranch for NPR’s Weekend Edition with Liane Hansen. I walked amongst a herd of buffalo holding a pair of B&K omni’s.
Tree Hoppers B&K omni’s and Sennheiser MKH 40’s were in this recording at a farm in Leesburg, Virginia. The sound of the “Tree Hopper” beetles were captured on an Ash bush with ceramic phono cartridges connected to mic preamps.
